VideoJukebox: Jump Up In The Air (Stay There)

Erykah Badu, another artist iAdmire, is preparing for the release of her new album New Amerykah Part II: Return of The Ankh. A couple of leaks have been circulating....

here's the video for what im guessing is her 1st single, Jump Up In The Air(Stay There) ft. Lil Wayne. word is that there will be 10 dif versions of the song.... hmmm thats interesting.

Enjoy

visually stimulating, rite? lol

VideoJukebox: We Are The World

so as we all know, a bunch of artists [including celebs that iHighly doubt can sing... smh] got together through Lionel Richie to remake We Are The World, as a cause for Haiti.

what do you think?

VideoJukebox: My Sweetie

so Wed nite, Wale premiered the video for his song My Sweetie. just a couple hrs after the video for his current single Pretty Girls debuted on 106 & Park.

IMHumboldtO lol, this video is better than Pretty Girls, which iWas kinda disappointed w. There was even a lil uproar about there not being any dark-skinned girls in the Pretty Girls video, and ppl took it to say that only lite-skinned, White, & Hispanic girls are pretty. Frankly thats not why iDidnt really like the video. After all there was iBelieve like two darker skinned girls in the video, but iWasnt payin much attn to all that. iThink iFeel like it was kinda lame *shrug*

but of course you know iGotta rep my Nigerian heritage by posting My Sweetie ;) looks like Wale tried to go for a more "African/Nigerian" look...

Oh and iPeeped my godbrother, Osinachi, who produced Wale's Nike Boots Remix, and also works w Darkchild. oh and also this girl that went to my high school, iDidnt know her but iRecognized her....

iGuess you can compare it to the Pretty Girls video...

VideoJukebox: Paris Nights/New York Mornings

in case you don't know, Corinne Bailey Rae is one of my FAVE artists out there! She released, in the US, the video for her new single, Paris Nights/New York Mornings.

Enjoy! [as iDo! lol]

and if youre on Twitter, be sure to follow her, @CorinneBRae

African Fashion

ankara is really just a basic fabric used in W. African countries like Nigeria, etc for traditional clothing.

here in the states, it seems like there has been a recent "boom" in the wearing of the fabric outside of African parties, iWld say starting from like 08-ish. ppl, specifically the females, are goin all out and having modern styles tailored for them.

even non africans have been spotted indulging in our traditional fabric in various styles. iJust wanted to let ppl know that this aint know new style/dress that the celebs have created, they've just hopped in the african bandwagon. maybe not so much, but, YOU KNOW WHAT iMEAN! lol

so iGoogled 'ankara styles' for some pics.

and of course iJust had to go on facebook and borrow some pix [from a party] from my good friends page ;)

aight im done, its just too much!

sites to check out: Vlisco, Olamild Ent, Fashion Africa, or just google like iDid!

*also check these S. African designs, Sun Goddess

That aint nothing but

SOME DAMN ANKARA!!! NO not Ankara, Turkey, stupid.

frankly iLike how ppl are using fabrics traditional to West Africa and callin it new style.... Um excuse me, get ya facts straight cuz my people all over West Africa have been wearin it for idk how long!

and its funny cuz we [young people of African descent] used to be so emb'r'ssed to wear traditional clothes in public, but now we are too syced to get it madd in a design more racier/fashionable/stylish than the girl/guy next to us, at the next African party or even on nites out!

well, iAlways like our traditional clothes and you aint have to ask me twice to draw up a design!

well, iReally did this post bcuz iSaw that Beyonce & Alicia Keys were wearing some custom Boxing Kitten 'fits on the shoot of the soon to be realeased video 'Put It In A Love Song' [*blah face* sorry iJust think its NOT the best celeb/singer duo].

well iRemember ConcreteLoop callin the Boxing Kitten line "vibrant". iMean iGuess you can call it that, but it just some cute traditional clothes if you ask just bout any person who's of West African/African descent. and iWas even more "annoyed" or more like smh when iRead that the designer of the line thought she was doing something different. Child pls, you are WAY behind. cuz iCan rite go to the african store, and ask for the tailor to whip me up something for whatever party is this weekend.

some other celebs have been seen in Boxing Kitten:

here are another pic of some Boxing Kitten garments:

pics from ConcreteLoop

and now iFeel prompted to do another/followup post on West African traditional clothing...

Come here, Rude Boy

iThink there was TOO much hype surrounding the premier of Rihanna's new video for her latest single, Rude Boy.... WAY too much hype

shall iSay.... colorful! lol we can clearly see that she decided to go back to her Carribean roots, even in her "dance moves".... [ahahahaha]

sorry RihRih but im gonna bomb you cuz you aint the best dancer out here. hey, neither am i, but still.

oh yeah, can iHave that black/white catsuit???

*where is the supposed "rude boy" was she the one that was sposed to be rude?? besides the couple of dudes [the dancing one, who iThought was Chris Breezy, and the one of the bike] iDont think the rude boy was defined well in this video. you know videos always like to tell a story of some sort, or at least be related to to the song . . . engh

Another life that was admired

so im sure by now we've all heard of the death of Alexander McQueen, Brit fashion designer.

it is said that he was found in his Mayfair [central London] flat earlier today. apparently he hung himself. also, his mother died w/in the past week. and also one of his close friends died about 3yrs ago.

this is truly sad to hear that someone took their own life. especially when thats the way they decide to end their grief and pain.

truly sad.

RIP Alexander McQueen

*his line McQ which is sposed to be at NY fashion week has been cancelled

UPDATE: 2moro, Feb 19, PPR w/ whom McQueen joined forces, will iGuess "determine" whether or not McQueens line(s) will be continued by another designer.

if not, iSay ppl shld buy his stuff cuz they'll probly become collectors items or something R.I.P. McQueen

***** McQueen's line WILL be continued. im not sure by whom, but since his death, sales have increased by 14%
