The soundtrack is diff from her previous stuff, lots of old school influence, but its definitely Lola Maxwell style.

Music Review: Basik Edukation

One word: "vintage rap". ok that was actually two, lol.

thats what iAm describing Lola Maxwell's music as, Vintage Rap. she puts her flow to some old school type music, and there you have it, great music.

formerly known as Miss Jillz, Lola Maxwell dropped her 4th[?] mixtape today, properly titled Basik Edukation.

the mixtape takes you to her point of view from DC to college life, in such tracks as 'DC Shyt' and 'Homecoming'.

she does a couple covers/demos [which iHave to say were nicely done] : 'The Freshman' [Pursuit of Happiness by Kid Cudi], 'Sing for Absolution' [Muse] this is perhaps the 1st time i've heard her flow over a rock beat, 'World Tour' [Wale], and 'Over Freestyle' [Over by Drake].

as the mixtape's title suggests, Lola gives us her perspective of the college life, such as providing a scene of college homecoming w mention of frat boys, and checking on other kids outfits and such, in 'Homecoming'. it also takes us to DC, as in 'Perfect Stranger', which iThink is reminiscent of 'Chelsea' from the Check the Rhyme mixtape, a story of everyday ppl who dont have much goin for them; unfortunately the story ends in the loss of a life. iThink there is also a personal touch [what kind of artist wld she be w/o being personal!] as in Im lovin It, ppl may try to play her, bcuz they dont really know of her... the tape also gets a sexy track, 'Whisper To Me Baby': "you aint gotta say much, i just wanna feel your touch..."

so iJust learned that lil Diggy Simmons [yes, Rev Runs 2nd youngest son] is going to be dropping a mixtape in the near future, nov 27th iBelieve. Wow... iDidn't know the kid had it in him..How old is he now? can't be older than 15! but he even manages his own blog, Life of the Jet Setter, and now raps! iDid not see that one comin, yet! iMean iKnow his older bro is a part of some group, that does beats [correct me is i'm wrong?]. and older sis Angela [who is currently dating a white guy. big ups, lol] had a one hit wonder earlier this yr... but wow.

iPeeped his song 'Point to Prove', and iGotta say, youngn can spit a lil somethin somethin! iMight just check out his mixtape when it arrives...

iNot exactly sure if this is gonna be on his album, but my thoughts on the song..... not bad. i'm not exactly familiar w/ lupe's stuff, except for what comes on the radio, but it's sounds different from his previous work.... iWonder what Lasers has in store for us. oh, and its supposed to be coming out in December.

Jukebox: Mario's D.N.A. album

although iAm yet to review the WHOLE album, it seems like r&b crooner Mario has gotten some good love for his latest album D.N.A. yes, iWas and still am a fan of 'Break Up' and 'Stranded', and also getting into 'Thinkin' About You'. however iRead the album review on concreteloop, and iHave to say i'm a bit disappointed that they said "....Giving a nod to his Baltimore/D.C. roots “Before She Said Hi,”(featuring G.O.O.D Music’s Big Sean) is the most noticeable go-go specific track, that is perfection indeed...."

yes! they said D.C. and Bmore, and then go-go in the same sentence!

no, no i'm not hype about the D.C. mention. i'm actually almost upset[?] bcuz last time iChecked Bmore was NOT in the DMV region [D.C. and the surrounding VA/MD area]. iHad previously [before the review] taken a listen to the track 'Before She Said Hi" and iWas NOT even thinking go-go. matterfact, iWasnt really LIKING the track. [iWas thinkin more 'oh i'll probly like it if iKeep it on rotay...']

iLove Mario, but he's not from D.C. its just that simple. and yeah 'Before She Said Hi' is heavy on the drums/go-go-ish but its def not "noticeably go-go specific"

so, how many have been tuning in to diddy's latest musical creation? the group: diddy [funny iNever knew diddy was actually IN the group...], kalenna and dawn richard [former DK member] have graced us with their newest track 'love come down (show em how to move)' iActually think its a great listen, besides diddy... [yea he always sounds corny...]

but iOnly thought dirty money was one of diddy's bands....? not that he was in the group too.... is that what the show making HIS band is all about? you know i've never seen the show before so iWldn't know.... anywho...

alright, so i'm back from my own laptop!

thought i'd post about this latest drake track entitled "fear" raise ya hand if you've heard it already... [lol] but yeah, not bad not bad. the track fetures drake expresses his issues w/ his newfound fame, such as how his old friends think they're not friends anymore/how he's forgotten them.... yada yada. but iThink we all know by now that famous ppl aren't always happy being famous. iMean look at the ones that have taken their on lives, or who have serious problems with drugs and alcohol. iGuess fame isn't all its made to be huh?
