feelin a lil thirsty

so after a lil nite in w the girls, and boykeith & his friend evan, playing kings, iThought hmmm we def got to mix some better drinks!!!!!!! omg, so embarassing: the drink we mixed, besides coke&rum, was "Dirty Dishwater". frankly the drink looked like dirty dishwater! it was a lil mad dog, skyy vodka, pineapple juice, and a drop of blue food coloring.... oh my... oh and sprite

well iForget where iSaw the "recipe" for these drinks iThink we shld try nxt time:

1 Party In Ya Mouth : Ciroc + Redbull + touch of fresh pineapple juice

2 Nutron: Nuvo + Patron

3 Strawberrry Lemon Ciroc: Ciroc + Strawberry Lemonade

so iBeen thinkin iHavent done a food/recipe post in the longest! probly since like the summertime...

well iThought i'd do a couple.

iLove cornbread! it is JUST SO delicious!!!! at home, we can make cornbread at least once a week! that and we usually make enough for each person in our house to have like 2/3 servings [thats 7/8 ppl and about 18 servings] before my mom started buying the mix, she wld get cornbread from Giant sometimes, this was when we didnt eat cornbread that much. sometimes it'd be from Boston Market. then sometime last yr, while iWas at school, she started buying Penguin Natural Foods cornbread mix from Costco.

since i've been back to school last fall, i've been obsessed w/ having cornbread every now and then. i've even put my friends on! they weren't serious cornbread eaters, but now when one of us says cornbread, we all want some!

while i'm at school iDont have access to Penguin brand mix, so iStarted using Krusteaz Natural Honey cornbread mix [iBelieve you can use the fat free one too] after a failed try w/ the traditional Jiffy brand mix. iRemember my mom used to use Jiffy WAY back in the day, but iDont remember it like that. iUsed the mix last semester and it was soooooo dry! iWas like NEVER again.

SO so far my best cornbread mixes go to:

1. Penguin Natural Foods


2. Krusteaz


3. Jiffy, ie if you cant find these other two, or MUST just use Jiffy brand. on one try to make it moist, i've used a can of sweet creamed corn. iWld suggest you find the smallest can, or dont use all of w/e can you do find. my mistake was that it was TOO moist, iPersonally didnt like it, but my friend and roomies did.

and you can better your cornbread "experience" by drizzling honey on it straight out of the oven! YUMMM. enjoy!

so Wed nite, Wale premiered the video for his song My Sweetie. just a couple hrs after the video for his current single Pretty Girls debuted on 106 & Park.

IMHumboldtO lol, this video is better than Pretty Girls, which iWas kinda disappointed w. There was even a lil uproar about there not being any dark-skinned girls in the Pretty Girls video, and ppl took it to say that only lite-skinned, White, & Hispanic girls are pretty. Frankly thats not why iDidnt really like the video. After all there was iBelieve like two darker skinned girls in the video, but iWasnt payin much attn to all that. iThink iFeel like it was kinda lame *shrug*

but of course you know iGotta rep my Nigerian heritage by posting My Sweetie ;) looks like Wale tried to go for a more "African/Nigerian" look...

Oh and iPeeped my godbrother, Osinachi, who produced Wale's Nike Boots Remix, and also works w Darkchild. oh and also this girl that went to my high school, iDidnt know her but iRecognized her....

African Fashion

ankara is really just a basic fabric used in W. African countries like Nigeria, etc for traditional clothing.

here in the states, it seems like there has been a recent "boom" in the wearing of the fabric outside of African parties, iWld say starting from like 08-ish. ppl, specifically the females, are goin all out and having modern styles tailored for them.

even non africans have been spotted indulging in our traditional fabric in various styles. iJust wanted to let ppl know that this aint know new style/dress that the celebs have created, they've just hopped in the african bandwagon. maybe not so much, but, YOU KNOW WHAT iMEAN! lol
