ankara is really just a basic fabric used in W. African countries like Nigeria, etc for traditional clothing.

here in the states, it seems like there has been a recent "boom" in the wearing of the fabric outside of African parties, iWld say starting from like 08-ish. ppl, specifically the females, are goin all out and having modern styles tailored for them.

even non africans have been spotted indulging in our traditional fabric in various styles. iJust wanted to let ppl know that this aint know new style/dress that the celebs have created, they've just hopped in the african bandwagon. maybe not so much, but, YOU KNOW WHAT iMEAN! lol

frankly iLike how ppl are using fabrics traditional to West Africa and callin it new style.... Um excuse me, get ya facts straight cuz my people all over West Africa have been wearin it for idk how long!

and its funny cuz we [young people of African descent] used to be so emb'r'ssed to wear traditional clothes in public, but now we are too syced to get it madd in a design more racier/fashionable/stylish than the girl/guy next to us, at the next African party or even on nites out!

well, iAlways like our traditional clothes and you aint have to ask me twice to draw up a design!

well, iReally did this post bcuz iSaw that Beyonce & Alicia Keys were wearing some custom Boxing Kitten 'fits on the shoot of the soon to be realeased video 'Put It In A Love Song' [*blah face* sorry iJust think its NOT the best celeb/singer duo].

well iRemember ConcreteLoop callin the Boxing Kitten line "vibrant". iMean iGuess you can call it that, but it just some cute traditional clothes if you ask just bout any person who's of West African/African descent. and iWas even more "annoyed" or more like smh when iRead that the designer of the line thought she was doing something different. Child pls, you are WAY behind. cuz iCan rite go to the african store, and ask for the tailor to whip me up something for whatever party is this weekend.

iThink there was TOO much hype surrounding the premier of Rihanna's new video for her latest single, Rude Boy.... WAY too much hype

shall iSay.... colorful! lol we can clearly see that she decided to go back to her Carribean roots, even in her "dance moves".... [ahahahaha]

sorry RihRih but im gonna bomb you cuz you aint the best dancer out here. hey, neither am i, but still.

Another life that was admired

so im sure by now we've all heard of the death of Alexander McQueen, Brit fashion designer.

it is said that he was found in his Mayfair [central London] flat earlier today. apparently he hung himself. also, his mother died w/in the past week. and also one of his close friends died about 3yrs ago.

this is truly sad to hear that someone took their own life. especially when thats the way they decide to end their grief and pain.

truly sad.

RIP Alexander McQueen

UPDATE: 2moro, Feb 19, PPR w/ whom McQueen joined forces, will iGuess "determine" whether or not McQueens line(s) will be continued by another designer.

if not, iSay ppl shld buy his stuff cuz they'll probly become collectors items or something R.I.P. McQueen

6 Minute Morning: Flat Stomach

so iPicked up this book sometime in the fall from TJ Maxx [only 2bucks] and read some of it, but havent gone back to it.

now. iKnow iAm a procrastinator at times. and iAm dying to lose up to 40lbs [my dr told me iNeed to anyways] and get that washboard stomach.

so whose ready to get serious and get a flat stomach by the time early summer rolls around??

According to the book, iShld follow a healthy diet in addition to an exercise routine for a flatter stomach.

• Eat, little and often, a varied diet. Avoid wheat products which cause bloating [anyone heard of the NO BREAD diet. thats gotta be hard. iKnow iLuh me some king's hawaiian bread... smh]
• Choose a wide selection of FRESH fruit and vegetables, reduce consummation of saturated fats.
• Eat SITTING DOWN, and chew THOROUGHLY, at least 15min so the brain can receive the msg from the stomach that its full.
• Dont eat alot of starchy carbs, eg rice, bread, potatoes, pastas [iAlready need this.] These are stored mostly as fat. Not cool
• Bye-Bye soda [all sodas, even diet & caffeine free]. They cause bloating bcuz theyre loaded w toxins! [Well thank goodness iStopped drinkin soda 3yrs ago! iOnly have it <5/yr>
• Avoid processed foods, ready made meals which are loaded w salt, sugar, and chemicals! [so iGuess lean cuisines count hunh? lol. and any trips to McDonalds need to be avoided too, even though they arent so often.]
• Salt reduction!
• Cookies, confectionery, and cakes! They promote cravings rather than sustained energy levels. [see therein lies my problems. i've got an XXXtremely sweet tooth for baked goods! *sigh*]

BUT dont forget to exercise. as for me, im one that loves to go to the gym but hasnt been there in a while. iMean walking to my classes & stuff, barely taking the bus counts rite??

well, iGuess it doesnt count enough bcuz ive gained a couple pounds this school yr so far. so iThink its bout time iReally get serious about my weight. im tired of not buying new clothes cuz iDont want to outgrow them! its time for me to check myself in the mirror and change what iSee!

So who's bout to go buy there 6 Min Mornin Flat Stomach book and start this regimen w me?!?!?!!? as @iamdiddy says, #LETSGO!

Apple iPad

yea yea. iMite be almost a week late, but i'm still posting rite? [ugh. lol]

well i'll have you know that iWas patiently waiting for the arrival of this new product, the Apple iPad. but upon its arrival, iAm extremely DISAPPOINTED!

WHY am iDisappointed?? well iWas honestly expecting a tablet PC from Apple. thats what iThought the iPad was gonna be. but what do we have here: basically a huge iPhone/iPod touch sans the phone capability.

iAm utterly disappointed. why didnt Apple just do the wise thing and make a tablet/touchscreen MacBook?? im not sure how sales are going so far. im sure Apple loyalists will indulge on this newbie, but iJust dont think this was the product that Apple shld have released.

*sigh* maybe later this yr or nxt yr they will surprise us w/ a tablet MacBook. until then iWill consider buying a MacBook and having it TURNED into a tablet...
